Bass & Backing Vocals (in meike's band 1998-2006)
Lars Lehmann was born in Bad Harzburg and started playing the bass when he was sixteen years old. In 1992 he began studying electric bass and classical singing in Hildesheim. He has also participated in advanced training workshops, for example with Jeff Berlin in Clearwater, Florida (USA).
Already in 1996 he attended the Popkurs ("Kontaktstudiengang Popularmusik") at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama, a course of studies for rock and pop musicians, where he met meike koester, and joined her band in 1998. Lars' nimble-fingered grooves on electric and upright bass can be heard on "angel" (1998) and "soap for dirty girls" (2002). On "live love travel free" (2006) he played all the bass tracks.
As a live and freelance studio musician, Lars is active not only in Germany, but also internationally. The list of his live and studio performances is as long as the neck of his bass and is best read on his own web page.
Furthermore, Lars is a sought-after bass teacher, who teaches and gives seminars and workshops for several music schools and musicians' organizations. Since 2005 he has even been a guest teacher at the Academy Of Contemporary Music in London, UK.
Next to his musical and pedagogical activities, Lars has also worked since the mid-nineties as a music journalist. In 1996 he became the co-founder and chief editor of the bass-related magazine "Bass Professor," which is published quarterly in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
